Monsoon Forecast for July 21, 2018: Rains in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana

The axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Anupgarh, Sikar, central parts of North Madhya Pradesh & adjoining Uttar Pradesh, Daltonganj, Jamshedpur, the low pressure area and further eastwards to east central Bay of Bengal.

During the last 24 hours, Monsoon remained active over South Rajasthan, parts of Gujarat, West Madhya Pradesh and Coastal Karnataka. Meanwhile, normal Monsoon conditions were observed over South Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Konkan & Goa and Kerala.

Major rainfall contribution came from Valsad that recorded 105 mm of rains, followed by Mahabaleshwar 93 mm and Mangaluru 90 mm.

As on July 19, the countrywide cumulative rainfall deficiency is at -4%. Division-wise, South Peninsula and Central India are rainfall surplus by 16% and 14%, respectively. However, Northwest and East & Northeast India are still rain deficient by 10% and 33%, respectively.

During the next 24 hours, South Chhattisgarh, South Odisha, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of Telangana are likely to observe vigorous Monsoon conditions giving heavy to very heavy rains.

Monsoon will remain active over East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, parts of West Uttar Pradesh and Coastal Karnataka which will result in moderate showers with one or two heavy spells.

Meanwhile, Gujarat region, Konkan & Goa, Kerala, Vidarbha, rest of Chhattisgarh, North Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Tripura would witness normal Monsoon conditions causing light to moderate rains over these areas.
