Monsoon Forecast for July 20, 2018: Monsoon rains in MP, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Konkan

Now, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Bikaner, Jaipur, Gwalior, Central parts of North Madhya Pradesh & neighborhood, Daltonganj, Ranchi, Digha and then eastwards to east central Bay of Bengal.

During the last 24 hours, Monsoon remained vigorous over parts of Gujarat, Saurashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Major rainfall contribution came from Nowgong that recorded 120 mm of rains, followed by Kannur 103 mm and Gwalior 90 mm.

As on July 18, the countrywide cumulative rainfall deficiency has come down to -3%. Division-wise, South Peninsula and Central India are rainfall surplus by 18% and 15%, respectively. On the other hand, Northwest and East & Northeast India are still rain deficient by 10% and 31%, respectively.

During the next 24 hours, Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, parts of Vidarbha, South Chhattisgarh and North Telangana are likely to observe vigorous Monsoon conditions that could give heavy to very heavy rains.

Monsoon will remain active over Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Uttarakhand which will result in moderate showers with one or two heavy spells.

Meanwhile, rest of Madhya Pradesh, parts of Odisha and Gujarat region would witness normal Monsoon conditions which will result in light to moderate rains.

Rest of the country will see subdued rains.
