The axis of monsoon trough continues to pass through Sri Ganganagar, Alwar, Narnaul, Shivpuri, Umaria, Pendra, Jharsuguda, Puri and then towards East central Bay of Bengal.
During the last 24 hours, Monsoon remained vigorous over Konkan & Goa including Mumbai and South Gujarat; while active Monsoon conditions were witnessed over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, parts of Madhya Pradesh and over isolated pockets of Vidarbha, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

Major rainfall contribution came from Mumbai wherein Santacruz recorded 184 mm of rain and Colaba 166 mm, followed by Diu 144 mm and Mahabaleshwar 124 mm.
As on July 9, the countrywide cumulative rainfall is deficient by 9%. Division-wise, South India is only sub-division to be rainfall surplus to the tune of 10%, while Northwest, Central and East & Northeast India are rain deficient by 8%, 5% and 24%, respectively.

During the next 24 hours; South Gujarat, Konkan & Goa and Southwest Madhya Pradesh would observe vigorous Monsoon conditions that would give heavy rains. In fact, Mumbai will also continue with heavy to very heavy rains for the fourth consecutive day. Monsoon will also remain active over remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh that would see moderate to heavy showers. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand, parts of Northwest Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha would witness light to moderate Monsoon rains.
