The axis of Monsoon trough continues to pass through Amritsar, Chandigarh, Shahjahanpur, Hamirpur, Satna, Ambikapur, Balasore and then east-southeastwards to east central Bay of Bengal.
During the last 24 hours, Monsoon remained vigorous over Konkan & Goa including Mumbai; while active Monsoon conditions were witnessed over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, parts of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Arunachal Pradesh.

Major rainfall contribution came from Dahanu that recorded a whopping 354 mm of rains, followed by Mumbai wherein Colaba saw 171 mm and Santa Cruz 122 mm and Matheran 130 mm.
As on July 8, the countrywide cumulative rainfall is deficient by 8%. Division-wise, South India is only sub-division to be rainfall surplus to the tune of 9%, while East & Northeast, Central and Northwest India are rain deficient by 23%, 6% and 4%, respectively.
During the next 24 hours; Konkan & Goa and Vidarbha would observe vigorous Monsoon conditions that would give heavy rains, with one or two very heavy spells. Mumbai will also continue with heavy to very heavy rains.

Monsoon will remain active over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, South Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland that would see moderate to heavy showers. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, West Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha would witness normal Monsoon conditions that could give light to moderate rains.
