Monsoon Forecast for Jul 8, 2017: Monsoon rains in Mumbai, Kolkata, Assam, Uttarakhand

Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over parts of Konkan & Goa, Uttarakhand and adjoining parts of Uttar Pradesh. Active Monsoon conditions were seen over entire northeastern states, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Coastal Karnataka, North Tamil Nadu, South Coastal Karnataka, parts of Rayalaseema and Telangana.

Major contribution came from Pantnagar that recorded 121 mm of rain in the past 24 hours, followed by Mukteshwar at 98 mm whereas Harnai at 79 mm.

On July 6, the cumulative countrywide rainfall dropped from 6% to 4%. Presently, Northwest India stands same at 47 %. Central India by 2% while south and East and Northeast India are deficient by 3% and 9%, respectively.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon continues to pass through Barmer, Sonipat and Shimla up to Jammu.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

During the next 24 hours, moderate rains with heavy spells may occur over North Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Konkan & Goa and Coastal Karnataka. Meanwhile, scattered light rains are possible over Jammu and Kashmir, parts of Punjab, Haryana and Delhi, rest of Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Kerala, Telangana and Interior Karnataka.
