Monsoon Forecast for Jul 7, 2017: Monsoon rains in Lucknow, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru

Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over East and Central Uttar Pradesh, West Assam, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Active Monsoon conditions were seen over rest of Northeast India, South Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. While scattered light rains with few moderate spells were seen over Kerala, Vidarbha, parts of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, rest parts of West Bengal and Lakshadweep. Monsoon was subdued over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Major contribution came from Guwahati that recorded 120 mm of rain in the past 24 hours, followed by Long Island at 83 mm whereas Bahraich at 67 mm.

As on July 5, the country witnessed 5% surplus rainfall. Presently, North West India stands same at 47 %. While South, East and Northeast India are deficient by 1% and 9%, respectively.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon continues to pass through Barmer, Sonipat, Shimla up to Jammu.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

During the next 24 hours, light to moderate rains may occur at many places over Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, northeastern states including flood-hit Assam and Konkan & Goa. While heavy to very heavy rains are possible at one or two places over East and Central Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, scattered light rains may occur over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and foothills of Punjab, East Haryana, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Telangana and Vidarbha.
