Monsoon Forecast for Jul 5, 2017: Monsoon rains in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata

Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over Coastal Karnataka and Assam. Active Monsoon conditions were seen over Konkan & Goa, Kerala and Gujarat, parts of Vidarbha, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Southeast Uttar Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura. Monsoon was subdued over Saurashtra and Kutch, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Rayalaseema, East Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Gangetic West Bengal, Interior Karnataka and Interior Tamil Nadu. While remaining parts of the country observed normal Monsoon conditions.

Major contribution came from Honnavar that recorded 125 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, followed by Ahmedabad at 100 mm whereas Ambikapur and Rangia recorded 77 mm.

As on July 3, the country witnessed 6% surplus rainfall. Presently, North West India stands same at 49 %, South India by 4%. While, East and Northeast India is deficient by 13%

The Northern Limit of Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh and now passes through Barmer, Sonipat and Shimla up to Jammu.

During the next 24 hours, Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka, North Kerala, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, parts of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim and entire northeastern states will witness active Monsoon.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

Normal Monsoon conditions are expected over Kerala, South Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, North Odisha and Uttarakhand.

Meanwhile, monsoon rains will remain subdued over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Saurashtra and Kutch, East Rajasthan, Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
