Monsoon Forecast for Jul 28, 2017: Heavy rain in South Rajasthan, West MP, flood hit Gujarat

Southwest Monsoon was vigorous over Jharkhand, North Chhattisgarh, South Rajasthan and parts of Gujarat, while active Monsoon was observed over east and southwest parts of Madhya Pradesh and Saurashtra and Kutch.

Meanwhile, Normal Monsoon conditions were witnessed over Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, northeastern states, West Bengal, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Major contribution came from Gandhinagar wherein 263 mm of rain was recorded in the past 24 hours, followed by Ahmedabad at 180 mm, Mount Abu 145 mm and Ambikapur 127 mm.

As on July 26, the cumulative countrywide rainfall continues to remain surplus by 5%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest India is surplus by 20%, while South Peninsula is deficient by 14%.

At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing from Anupgarh, Jaipur, Tikamgarh, centre of depression over Southeast Uttar Pradesh, Bankura, Diamond Harbour and further southeastwards to Northeast Bay of Bengal.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon is likely to remain vigorous over Gujarat, South Rajasthan and adjoining West Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, Saurashtra and Kutch, Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, North Madhya Maharashtra, Northeastern states, North Chhattisgarh, remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will witness normal Monsoon conditions.
