Monsoon Forecast for Jul 20, 2017: Heavy Monsoon rains in Mumbai, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat

Southwest Monsoon was vigorous over South Chhattisgarh, South Odisha, Vidarbha, adjoining Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Konkan and Goa. Meanwhile, active Monsoon conditions prevailed over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, South Gujarat, Telangana and Karnataka.

Normal Monsoon conditions prevailed over South and West Rajasthan, remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Northeast India and interior Karnataka.

Major contribution came from Brahmapuri wherein 208 mm of rain was recorded in the past 24 hours, followed by Harnai at 200 mm and Jagdalpur at 191 mm.

As on July 18, the country is witnessing normal Monsoon rains. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest India is surplus by 21% Central India by 4%. Whereas South India is deficit by 8%, East and Northeast India is deficient by 12%.

Presently, the Northern Limit of Monsoon is passing through Ganganagar, Hissar, Patiala and Kapurthala.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon is likely to remain vigorous over Konkan and Goa. Meanwhile, Active Monsoon conditions are likely over South Gujarat, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

Normal Monsoon conditions are anticipated over Northeast, parts of West Bengal, remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. Scattered light to moderate rain may also occur over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, South and East Rajasthan and Jharkhand.
