Southwest Monsoon was vigorous over Kutch, Konkan and Goa, Vidarbha, South Odisha and adjoining Chhattisgarh, while active Monsoon was observed over Coastal Karnataka, parts of Kerala, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Coastal Odisha, East Madhya Pradesh and one or two places of Himachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Normal Monsoon conditions were witnessed over Rajasthan and northwest parts of Uttar Pradesh.
Major contribution came from Valsad wherein 282 mm of rain was recorded in the past 24 hours, followed by Kandla at 238 mm, Alibag 173 mm and Bhira 169 mm.
As on July 17, the cumulative countrywide rainfall is deficient by 1%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest India is surplus by 23%. Whereas South, East and Northeast India is deficient by 10%.
Presently, the Northern Limit of Monsoon is passing through Bikaner, Churu, Hissar, Patiala and Kapurthala.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon is likely to remain vigorous over few parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Vidarbha, South Chhattisgarh, Konkan and Goa and South Gujarat. Meanwhile, Marathwada, coastal and north interior parts of Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana and parts of northeastern states will record moderate rains with isolated heavy falls. Normal Monsoon conditions are anticipated over Saurashtra and Kutch, East Rajasthan and hilly states of North India.

Scattered light may occur over Madhya Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, parts of West Uttar Pradesh and Haryana and North Punjab.
Talking about the metropolitan cities of India, Mumbai and Hyderabad will continue to record heavy rains, while Delhi and Kolkata may receive light rains.
