Monsoon Forecast for Jul 14, 2017: Rain in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Indore, Kolkata

Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over East Madhya Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, active Monsoon conditions were seen over Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal. Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, West Coast, and East Rajasthan.

On the other hand, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, West Rajasthan, Haryana and South Himachal Pradesh observed normal condition.

Major contribution came from Khandwa where 161 mm rain was observed followed by Khargone 122 mm and Damoh 116 mm all of which lie in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

As on July 12, the cumulative countrywide rainfall deficiency continued to be at 1%. Presently, Northwest India is rain surplus by 33%. However, Central India is rain deficient by 9% with East and Northeast India witnessing a rainfall deficiency of 4 percent.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon continues to pass through Barmer, Sikar, Hisar, Patiala up to Kapurthala.

During the next 24 hours, Southwest Monsoon will remain vigorous over West Madhya Pradesh, Southeast Rajasthan, and East Gujarat.

Active Monsoon conditions are expected over West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir. Also, Monsoon rains are likely to increase over West Coast including Mumbai, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Telangana. On the other hand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, Chhattisgarh will observe a reduction in Monsoon showers.

However, Monsoon will remain subdued over the Southern Peninsular region.
