Southwest Monsoon remained active over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala. Normal Monsoon conditions were seen in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Konkan & Goa and northeastern states.
Major rain contribution came from Tinsukia that recorded 137 mm of rainfall, followed by Paradip 90 mm and Sundergarh at 85 mm of rain.
As on August 5, the cumulative countrywide rainfall is deficient by 2%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest India remains rain surplus by 13% Central India is near normal. Whereas, South, East and Northeast India are still rain deficient by 18% and 7%, respectively.

At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Amritsar, Karnal, Shahjahanpur, Gorakhpur, Gaya, Jamshedpur and Balasore towards Northwest Bay of Bengal.
During the next 24 hours, Monsoon will remain active over Interior Odisha, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Southwest parts of Uttar Pradesh, South Konkan & Goa region and adjoining areas of Karnataka.
Live status of Lightning and thunder
Normal Monsoon conditions are likely over West Bengal, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura, East Uttar Pradesh, Interior Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Andaman and the Nicobar Islands. Light rains are also possible over Chennai and Mumbai. Whereas, subdued Monsoon conditions are expected over Konkan & Goa, remaining parts of West Uttar Pradesh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh though isolated rains cannot be ruled out over Telangana.
