Monsoon Forecast for Aug 5, 2017: Rain in Kolkata, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand

Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, parts of Bihar, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala. Active Monsoon conditions were seen over West Bengal and North Coastal Odisha.

Normal Monsoon conditions were seen over Konkan & Goa, North Haryana and Northwest Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, subdued Monsoon conditions were observed over entire parts of the country.

Major rain contribution came from Patna that recorded 107 mm of rain, followed by Shirali at 98 mm and Mangalore at 83 mm.

As on August 3, the cumulative countrywide rainfall stands deficient by 1%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest India continues to stand at 16% Central India by 4%

Whereas, South, East and Northeast India are still rain deficient by 18% and 8%, respectively.

At present, the axis of Monsoon trough now passes through the foothills of Himalayas.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon will remain active to vigorous over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Foothills of Uttar Pradesh, many parts of Bihar and Gangetic West Bengal.

Active Monsoon conditions are expected over East Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, West Coast and Konkan & Goa.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

Normal Monsoon conditions are likely over Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and parts of Telangana.
