Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous to active over North Punjab and North Haryana. While, active Monsoon conditions prevailed over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Coastal Karnataka. Normal Monsoon conditions were seen over parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Kerala, Konkan and Goa and some parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Major rain contribution came from Kurukshetra that recorded 72 mm of rain, followed by Ambala at 59 mm and Jalandhar at 51 mm.
As on August 2, the cumulative countrywide rainfall stands at 100 percent. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest India is surplus by 16% Central India by 5% Whereas, South, East and Northeast India are rain deficient by 18% and 8%, respectively.

At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Amritsar, Karnal, Bareilly, Gorakhpur and Purnea towards East Assam
During the next 24 hours, Monsoon is likely to be active over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, North Punjab, North Haryana, foothills of Uttar Pradesh, foothills of Bihar, parts of East Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, Nagalnad, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Coastal Karnataka and parts of Kerala.

Normal Monsoon conditions are likely over East Uttar Pradesh, rest of Bihar, Jharkhand, and North Odisha.
