Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over South Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, a few parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala.
Monsoon remained active over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and northeastern states.
Normal Monsoon conditions were witnessed over South interior Karnataka and North Tamil Nadu.
Major rain contribution came from Dahanu that recorded 195 mm of rainfall, followed by Harnai at 178 mm and Mahabaleshwar at 166 mm.
As on August 28, the cumulative countrywide rainfall continued to be deficient by 5%. Talking about the regional distribution, Northwest, Central and South India are rain deficient by 4%, 7% and 9%, respectively.
East and Northeast India continued to remain normal.
At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Barmer, Udaipur, the center of low-pressure area, Raipur, Puri then towards East Central Bay of Bengal.
During the next 24 hours, Monsoon will remain vigorous over Konkan and Goa, Gujarat, a few parts of Kerala, Karnataka and West Madhya Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Active Monsoon conditions are likely over a few parts of Uttarakhand, Southeast Rajasthan, rest parts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and northeastern states.
Monsoon will remain normal over Vidarbha, Marathwada and East Madhya Pradesh.
Live status of Lightning and thunder
Also, subdued Monsoon conditions are expected over Southeast Tamil Nadu and Northwest Rajasthan. Scattered light showers cannot be ruled out over rest parts of the country.
