Monsoon Forecast for Aug 29, 2018: Monsoon rains in Gujarat, MP, Maharashtra, UP, Chhattisgarh

Currently, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Amritsar, Ambala, Meerut, Kanpur, Daltonganj and further southeastwards to North Andaman Sea.

In view of this, Monsoon remained vigorous over Delhi, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Assam and parts of Mizoram. Meantime, active Monsoon conditions continued over Konkan & Goa, Southeast Madhya Pradesh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the last 24 hours.

Major rainfall input came from Delhi where Najafgarh recorded 148 mm of rain, and Palam saw 101 mm of rainfall while Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra saw 107 mm.

As on August 27, the countrywide cumulative rainfall deficiency sustain at -6%. Division wise, South Peninsula is rain surplus by 9%, Central India have witnessed normal rains. While, East & Northeast India remain highest rain deficient pocket at -27%, followed by Northwest India at -4%.

During the next 24 hours, vigorous Monsoon conditions will be seen over parts of West Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, wherein heavy to very heavy showers are possible.

Active Monsoon conditions will continue over Delhi, Vidarbha, South Chhattisgarh, rest of Madhya Pradesh, West Uttar Pradesh and parts of Haryana. These areas may record light to moderate with isolated heavy rainfall.

Simultaneously, Monsoon would remain normal giving light to moderate showers over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Southeast Rajasthan, rest of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan & goa, Coastal Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, North Chhattisgarh, parts of Odisha, foothills of Bihar, Assam and Meghalaya.

Rest of the country would see subdued Monsoon activities.
