Monsoon Forecast for Aug 20, 2017: Rain in Delhi, Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand

In the last 24 hours, vigorous Monsoon conditions were seen over Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha. Southwest Monsoon remained active over Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Delhi, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Northeastern states, Telangana, Marathwada region, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka.

Major rain contribution came from Khandwa that recorded 148 mm of rainfall, followed by Nagpur at 142 mm and Nahan 111 mm of rain.

On August 18, the cumulative countrywide rainfall has dropped down to -5%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest India is witnessing normal Monsoon conditions while, East and Northeast India are rain surplus by 4%. Whereas, Central and South India are rain deficient by 10% and 15%, respectively.

At present, the axis of monsoon trough is moving across Ferozpur, Hisar, Gwalior, Damoh, Raipur, centre of low pressure area and is moving towards Bay of Bengal. This trough is expected to move further southwards.

During the next 24 hours vigorous Monsoon conditions are likely over South Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, and parts of Madhya Maharashtra.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

Active to Normal Monsoon conditions will prevail over Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, East Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, and along the West Coast.
