Monsoon Forecast for Aug 2, 2017: Rain in Delhi NCR, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Haryana

Southwest Monsoon remained active over parts of Tamil Nadu, Southern Kerala, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, North Rajasthan and Delhi-NCR.

Normal Monsoon conditions were seen over Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, West Madhya Pradesh, the rest of Uttar Pradesh, parts of Bihar, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Major contribution came from Berhampore that recorded 84 mm of rain, followed by Pasighat at 82 mm, and Tiruppattur at 73 mm.

As on July 31, the cumulative countrywide rainfall stands at 2%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest India is surplus by 18% Central India by 9% Whereas, South, East and Northeast India are rain deficient by 17% and 8%, respectively.

At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Sriganganagar, Rohtak, Badawun, Gorakhpur, Balurghat up to Assam.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon is likely to be active over Jammu and Kashmir, parts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Good Monsoon showers are likely over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Konkan Goa and Kerala.

Live status of Lightning and thunder

Normal Monsoon conditions are likely over parts of North-Eastern Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, coastal Karnataka and Central Maharashtra.

Talking about the metro cities of India, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai may witness light to moderate showers while Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai will remain mostly dry. However, isolated activity cannot be ruled out over these areas.
