Southwest Monsoon remained vigorous over parts of Southeast Rajasthan and South Uttar Pradesh. Active Monsoon conditions were seen over Southern parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Madhya Pradesh, parts of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Vidarbha, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Normal Monsoon conditions persisted over West Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Konkan and Goa and Coastal Karnataka.
Major rain contribution came from Cherrapunji that recorded 225 mm of rainfall, followed by Cooch Behar at 141 mm and Dharamsala at 118 mm of rain.
As on August 8, the cumulative countrywide rainfall is deficient by 3%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest India is rain surplus by 11%. Whereas, Central, South, East and Northeast India are rain deficient by 2%, 18% and 7%, respectively.

At present, the axis of Monsoon is passing through Feozpur, Delhi, Banda, Daltonganj, Balasore towards Bay of Bengal.
During the next 24 hours, Monsoon will remain vigorous to active over Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. Active Monsoon conditions are also likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, foothills of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, West Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, south interior Karnataka and North Tamil Nadu.

Normal Monsoon conditions are likely over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka and Kerala.
