Monsoon Forecast for Aug 1, 2017: Rain in Delhi, Jaipur, Shimla, Chandigarh, Amritsar

Southwest Monsoon remained active over parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, North Rajasthan, and Interior Tamil Nadu.

Normal Monsoon conditions were seen over Konkan and Goa, parts of Madhya Maharashtra, West Uttar Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka, Gujarat region, Odisha, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Major contribution came from Pantnagar that recorded 85 mm of rain, followed by Arogyavaram at 74 mm, and Dharamsala 67 mm.

As on July 30, the cumulative countrywide rainfall has come down to 2%. As far as the regional distribution is concerned, Northwest India is surplus by 18% Central India by 10% Whereas, South, East and Northeast India are rain deficient by 17% and 7%, respectively.

At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through Anupgarh, Hisar, Bareilly, Gaya, Purulia, Digha, and towards West Central Bay of Bengal.

During the next 24 hours, Monsoon is likely to be active over Jammu and Kashmir, parts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Normal Monsoon conditions will be seen over Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, parts of Bihar. One or two places of West Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, North Coastal Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Coastal Odisha and Interior Tamil Nadu.

However, Monsoon will remain subdued over Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, parts of Odisha, Kerala, Madhya Maharashtra and remaining parts of Coastal Karnataka, Gujarat and Northeast India.
