The first cyclonic storm of the season, Cyclone Sagar has formed far west of the Arabian Sea. At present, the cyclone is centered at the Gulf of Aden about 400 km away East-Northeast of Aden in Yemen.

Cyclone Sagar is anticipated to intensify further in the next 12 hours. Thereafter, as the system moves closer to the coast, the system would start weakening gradually.
Initially, the cyclone would move westward and later west southwest wards. In wake of this, torrential rains along with high velocity winds are likely to lash North Somalia, parts of Ethiopia and Yemen.
