Cyclone Mora to form in Bay of Bengal in next 24 hours

The low pressure area in Southeast Bay of Bengal has now intensified into a well-marked low pressure area. Further, the cloud configuration and atmospheric conditions are indicating towards its strengthening into depression by Friday evening and further into a deep depression by Saturday morning.

Thereafter, with the low vertical wind shear and warm sea surface temperatures, weather conditions will continue to be favourable for the system to intensify into cyclone by Saturday evening.

The expected cyclonic storm is likely to track north-northeast direction during the next 24 to 48 hours. It will maintain its strength by Sunday evening, moving closer to the Myanmar coast.

The system is likely to make landfall over the Myanmar coast, however, weathermen predict will weaken before landfall and may cross the coast as deep depression as depression.

The expected Cyclone Mora is likely to spare the East Coast of India but northeast states of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura could receive moderate to heavy rains and thundershowers on April 16-17.

However, coastal states of Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh would see cloudy weather during the next 24-48 hours but rains will be ruled out.
