After battering Tamil Nadu including Chennai on Monday with three digit rains, Northeast Monsoon continued to wreak havoc cross the state.
Though rains showed some respite on Tuesday but several places continued with heavy rains during the last 24 hours on account of the cyclonic circulation persisting over South Coastal Tamil Nadu.
As per local authorities, at least five people have been reported to be dead so far in the rain related incidents. School and colleges across Chennai, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur remained shut for the second consecutive day.

In last 24 hours, Chennai recorded 41 mm of rains, Cuddalore 87 mm, Parengipettai 70, Marakkanam 60 mm, Sirkali 60 mm, Karaikal 48 mm, Puducherry 47, Kolapakkam 40 mm and Nagapattinam 37 mm.
Going further, we expect moderate to heavy rains to continue today as well as moisture laden northeast winds will continue to blow across the region.
Weathermen predict on and off short and intense spell of Monsoon rains over Chennai and nearby coastal areas throughout the day. However, it will not be a continuous affair. One or two very heavy spells are also likely at few places.

These, moderate rains with some heavy spells will keep lashing the state on November 2 and 3 as well. Thereafter, with this system moving away from Tamil Nadu coast, rains may dip further on November 4.
These rains and thundershowers will be accompanied with moderate to strong winds. With this, people across the coastal areas, especially Chennai must be prepared for water logging, traffic jams and flash floods at several places.
