Chennai Rains 2017 Update: Low Pressure in Bay to give rain in Chennai, Tamil Nadu

November 25, 2017 7:07 PM | Skymet Weather Team

During the last 24 hours, isolated rains were witnessed over the city of Chennai. This could be attributed to the low pressure area that is persisting over west central Bay of Bengal. Further, weathermen expect this system to continue moving in west southwest direction towards Sri Lanka. Now the impact of this system will be more on South Tamil Nadu where areas such as Nagapattinam, Karaikal and Tondi will receive moderate to heavy rains in the next 24 hours. However North Coastal Tamil Nadu that includes Chennai will observe light to moderate showers.

Meanwhile, the interior parts of the state will only get to see scattered light rainfall activity with one or two moderate showers. We can expect these on and off showers to continue until November 28.

Thereafter the weather will again go almost dry over Chennai. However, then also partly cloudy to cloudy sly conditions will prevail that could be followed with isolated light to very light rains in parts of the city. As of now, the weather will remain warm until the rain starts; thereafter with the rainfall activity the weather will become comfortable.
