26 August, 2015 Monsoon Update: Skymet Weather

August 25, 2015 5:46 PM |

Southwest Monsoon is subdued in most parts of the country. At present it is active only in East and Northeast India. The country wide rainfall deficiency now stands at 11%.

In absence of any significant weather system, tomorrow entire North India will remain mostly dry.

The western end of the Monsoon trough will run along the foothills of the Himalayas. There is a cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal, off the Odisha coast. At present, it seems to be getting organised and could strengthen into a low pressure area within next 24 hours. Consequently, the eastern end of the Monsoon trough seems to be dipping into the Bay.

In view of the weather systems, Southwest Monsoon will remain active over entire East and Northeast India. West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar and Jharkhand will receive fairly widespread rainfall. Good Monsoon showers likely over Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.

The feeble off-shore trough running along the West Coast will bring good showers over Konkan & Goa.

Remaining parts of the country will witness light Monsoon showers. But, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Maharashtra will remain practically dry.
