Heavy rains have been lashing Mumbai. On Friday, the city of dreams recorded 283 mm of rain. The off-shore trough extending from the cyclonic circulation over Arabian Sea could be attributed for heavy showers along the West Coast.

The low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal has strengthened into a well-marked low. This system will bring good amounts of rain in northern parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. South Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha will also receive heavy showers during next 24 hours.

Thereafter, the system will recurve and bring rain over West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand. Southwest Monsoon has advance into some more parts of Chhattisgarh, Odisha and West Bengal. Remaining parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Bay of Bengal have also been covered. Bihar and Jharkhand could receive monsoonal rains shortly.

Northeast will continue to receive only light to moderate rainfall. As the weather system in the Bay of Bengal, has been drawing away all the moisture from the region.

In the northern parts of the country, humid weather will persist over Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Delhi. We cannot rule out isolated rain and thundershowers in the plains but the hills will be mainly dry.
