13 June, 2015 Monsoon Update: Skymet Weather

June 12, 2015 6:28 PM |

A rainy weakened ahead for most parts of the country. Monsoon has finally arrived in Mumbai and while Pre-Monsoon showers in the Northern plains will bring a sigh of relief.
Cyclone Ashobaa has moved far further away from the Indian coast. Its effect has become negligible over the Indian subcontinent and a fresh Monsoon surge is bringing good showers over the west coast of India. Southern parts of Gujarat could also receive light to moderate rain.  The off-shore trough running from Maharashtra to Kerala will sustain the rainfall activity along the west coast for another 48 hours. Isolated places could receive heavy showers as well.
Another cyclonic circulation, off the Andhra coast, will bring light to moderate rain over Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
Northeast India, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and eastern parts of Bihar will continue to receive widespread thundershowers. This could be attributed to the trough extending from the cyclonic circulation over here, up to Northwest Bay of Bengal.
The Western Disturbance will bring scattered light rain over Jammu and Kashmir. The induced cyclonic circulation over Punjab will bring scattered thundershowers and dust storm activity over the plains of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, north Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh over the weekend.
Heat wave condition will be confined to few pockets of East and Central UP.
