Southwest Monsoon has gaining strength now. The Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir has started affecting the hilly states of North India. Heavy to moderate showers will continue over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
The Monsoon trough is extending from Punjab up to the Bay of Bengal through the low pressure area over Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Madhya Pradesh region. Over the weekend we can expect fairly widespread Monsoon showers in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi-NCR. North and East Rajasthan will also receive good showers. Sub Himalayan, Sikkim and Northeast India will also continue to receive good Monsoon rain.
The depression over East India has moved north-westwards and now lies as a well-marked low pressure area over parts Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh region.
Southwest Monsoon will remain vigorous across the Indo-Gangetic Plains.Entire Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, parts of Bihar and Jharkhand will be the main pocket of weather activity. But, rain will reduce over West Bengal and Odisha.
Gujarat will receive least activity. Vidharbha and Marathwada have been dry for quite some time. But, now these areas could receive some rain. Coastal areas of Maharashtra including Mumbai could receive some rain.
The offshore trough has also gained strength. Over the weekend coastal Karnataka will receive heavy showers. Rainfall activity will also pick up in Kerala. However, the interiors of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana will witness light Monsoon activity.
In absence of any weather activity, maximums have touched 40 in parts of Tamil Nadu and Rayalaseema. In rest of the country, temperatures will remain near or below normal levels.
