03 September, 2015 Monsoon Update: Skymet Weather

September 2, 2015 6:40 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Monsoon activity has been confined to parts of East and Northeast India for last couple of days and we expect similar weather conditions to prevail in the coming days as well.

A cyclonic circulation can be seen over Bangladesh and adjoining North Bay of Bengal that will bring moderate to heavy rainfall over West Bengal, Odisha, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura.

A trough can also be seen extending from this system up to North Andhra Pradesh, across West Bengal, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Accordingly, we can expect good weather activity all along the well-marked trough line.

Monsoon trough will continue to run closer to the foothills of the Himalayas extending from Uttarakhand up to Northeast India. However the eastern end of the trough will be more active. We can expect good rain over Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya. While heavy to very heavy rain will be observed over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim region.

Moving up in the hills, with the Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir moving away, weather activity over the hilly states will also take a back seat but localised activity cannot be ruled out.

Remaining parts of the country will continue with isolated light rain activity. However, parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh will remain mostly dry. As result, both maximum and minimum temperatures will increase by two to three degrees.
