October is the second rainiest month for Bengaluru. Earlier, the Southwest Monsoon rainfall in the rainiest month of September was subdued. The city has accumulated 49 mm of rainfall in the first week of October against the monthly normal of 186.4 mm. Mainly, it was just one heavy shower over the city and suburbs, a day prior, during this week. The rainfall may remain scanty during the rest of the week, albeit stray showers will lash some parts. Most of the weather activity will be during the late evening and night.

There is a north-south trough extending from the Gulf of Mannar to Madhya Maharashtra, running across Tamil Nadu and Interior Karnataka. The wind flow, as such, is predominantly easterly, bearing a lot of moisture. The weather activity will remain light and isolated during the next two days. An increase in intensity and spread is expected close to the weekend, between 9th and 11th October, more so on 10th October 2026.

The weather activity increases over South Interior Karnataka in general and Bengaluru in particular around the onset of the Northeast Monsoon. Since the withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon is still not complete from the country, the arrival of the winter monsoon will take some time. Typical monsoonal easterly flow is likely to get established around mid-week next. The onset of the monsoon may happen around 15th October or a little later. Rain and thundershowers will become more frequent thereafter. Days are expected to be pleasantly warm, and a mild winter chill is likely during the evening and night hours.
