Hyderabad rains to reduce; humid weather to persist

July 20, 2017 5:52 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Since last many days, intermittent rains have been occurring over the state of Telangana and its capital city, Hyderabad. Hyderabad continued to witness scattered light rainfall activities and in the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday, the city recorded mere 5.8 mm of rain. Similarly, Nizamabad recorded 10.4 mm of rainfall, followed by Hanamkonda at 3.2 mm.

According to Skymet Weather, a well marked low pressure area which has given good rains over the state during the last couple of days has weakened and moved away from the region. It is now seen as a low pressure area over Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas.

Now, as this system has been moved away and no significant weather system is prevailing over Telangana. Due to this, the intensity of rainfall activities over Telangana including Hyderabad will reduce significantly within the next 24 hours.

However, scattered light rains cannot be ruled out over few parts of  Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana due to the presence of Monsoon surge. Thus, Hyderabad may receive one or two spells of light rains and thundershowers during the next 24 to 48 hours. As on July 20, Telangana is rain surplus by 21% whereas Hyderabad is rain surplus by 42%.
