Rain to reduce over central India, north India to remain mainly dry

Monsoon was vigorous over west Madhya Pradesh and remained active over Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra and west coast. It is expected to remain active over Gujarat, south Rajasthan west coast, foothills of Himalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Gangetic West Bengal.

Monsoon activity will reduce drastically over central India though light rain spells will continue to occur at some places.

Intensity of rain will increase over north Bihar and Sub Himalayan West Bengal. Light to moderate rain spells are expected to continue over northeastern states.

Southern peninsula will have mainly dry weather with light spells of rain at few places. Dry weather is also expected to continue in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh. Light rain may occur over some areas in these regions.

Meanwhile, rain is expected to bring down temperatures in west Rajasthan-the hottest place in India.
