Rain in Delhi to last till 20th August

Widespread moderate rain continued to lash the national capital on Saturday pulling down temperatures marginally. Rain is expected to continue in the city till 20th of August as monsoon remains active in the northwest region.

52.8 mm of rain was recorded at Safdarjung Observatory from 8:30 am on Friday till 8:30 am on Saturday. The Palam Observatory recorded 12.6 mm of rain during the same period. Rain has mostly been heavy in north and west Delhi.

The cyclonic circulation over northeast Rajasthan has come close to Delhi and now lies over Haryana and adjoining areas. The weather system is working in tandem with the weather system that lies over Jammu & Kashmir as an upper air system. Rain will remain intact over the entire northwest region during the next two to three days. Punjab, Haryana, east Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh will receive rain at many places with isolated heavy during the period.

Heavy rains on Friday lead to traffic snarls in many areas of the capital including Pira-garhi, Rohini, ISBT, Wazirabad and Mayur Vihar due to water- logging.
