The moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal will remain intensified to give rain in Kolkata during the next 24 to 48 hours. The 'City of Joy' will receive moderate rain with heavy at one or two places during the next 24 hours. The city will remain under the influence of southerly winds that will keep moisture levels high during the period.
However, a respite from the current weather that had dampened the spirit of 'Puja preparations' with water-logging in many parts of the city will come in next 24 hours as rain will become light.
The low pressure area will shift away from Gangetic West Bengal in a day or two to change the wind pattern. Southerly winds will give way to less moist southeasterly to easterly winds decreasing the rainfall activity over the city.
