Intensity of rain to increase in Orissa

Heavy rain has been lashing several places in Orissa, making life miserable for people.Water levels in major rivers of the state such as the Bamsadhara and Rusikulya in southern Orissa, Hati in western Orissa and Baitarani in coastal Orissa have risen considerably.

The intensity of rainfall is forecast to increase in Orissa while, in south interior Karnataka it will decrease in the next 24 hours. Mumbai will continue to receive light isolated rainfall, whereas Kolkata in the east will get light to moderate showers. Delhi will remain warm and dry with gradual increase in humidity level.

The withdrawal line of southwest monsoon continues to pass through west Rajasthan including Ganganagar, Bikaner and Barmer. Monsoon is active over Orissa, north interior Karnataka, west coast, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, south Maharashtra and West Bengal. The east ­west trough is active from east-central Arabian Sea across Karnataka, Telangana, south Chattisgarh, Orissa and north Bay of Bengal, bringing rain to these places.
