A good spell of thunder shower is expected over Eastern India in the next 24 hours. This will come as a much awaited relief, since the region has been reeling under a dry spell. Light rain has occurred at many places including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya.
In Kolkata and adjacent areas, the sky will remain predominantly cloudy. The city will continue to receive light showers for the next 24 hours and thereby, increase in intensity. Heavy thunder showers are expected to return from the 3rd of September. Last week, heavy showers lashed the city and commuters were stranded for hours in water-logged roads. Overflowing drains and scores of uprooted trees added to their woes.
