Heavy rains disrupt normal life in Mumbai

Heavy rains in Mumbai have lead to waterlogging and traffic snarls in the city. Several low lying areas in Andheri, Borivili and Mumbai Central have been inundated.

Road and rail traffic has been severely affected since Friday morning. Long traffic jams can be witnessed at several places in the city. Railway tracks have been flooded at Chinchpokli, Vikroli, Sion and Masjid on Central and Harbour line resulting in trains running late by almost 30 minutes.

Heavy rains in northwest Maharashtra and south Gujarat has lead to cancellation of many trains on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad and Mumbai-New Delhi sectors.

It has been raining heavily in Mumbai since Thursday and is expected to continue till Saturday morning. The city has already received rain of up to 60mm which may touch 100mm by Saturday.
