July 20, 2013 10:43 PM |

As predicted by our weather experts, heavy rains lashed the metropolitan cities of Mumbai and Delhi today disrupting normal life and causing waterlogging at many places in the cities.

It has been raining in Mumbai since Friday due to which train services on both the western and central lines have been delayed. Traffic jams have also been reported from several places including Santacruz, Kolaba, Hindmata, Parel and Dadar.

Mumbai has already received more than 70mm of rain today which is expected to continue for next 48 hours and decrease thereafter.

Rain in Delhi

Meanwhile, the situation in the national capital Delhi is no different. Though heavy rains in the city today brought huge relief to the people from the humid and muggy weather, watterlogging and non-functional traffic signals caused great inconvenience to commuters.

Bumper-to-bumper traffic was witnessed at major intersections such as ITO, Laxmi Nagar, Moti Bagh, Kashmere Gate, Munirka, Dwarka and Dhaula Kuan.

Trees in some parts of the city were also uprooted causing disruption in powers supply to some areas.

The city today received over 100mm of rain which is the highest for a day in the month of July this year.

Meanwhile, our weather experts have predicted more rain for the next couple of days which spells some good news for the city that was staring at rainfall deficit in the month of July.
