Rain decreases in Kolkata, bringing life back on track

August 29, 2013 3:40 PM |

Kolkata is expected to get some relief from the mushy weather conditions. Moderate to heavy thunder showers, lashing Kolkata since last week, has finally decreased in intensity.

The sky will remain predominantly cloudy and light rain is expected to continue in several parts of West Bengal and adjoining areas of Sikkim. Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar might experience heavy thundery activity and showers, while few other places in West Bengal will receive moderate to heavy rainfall.

Life was thrown out of gear in major areas of Kolkata when commuters were stranded for hours and had to toil hard to find their way through overflowing drains, scores of uprooted trees and water-logged roads.

The low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal has moved in a west southwest direction to Bihar, adjoining east Uttar Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh and east Madhya Pradesh.
