In the last 24 hours, we have observed good rains at many places over West Madhya Pradesh and in some parts over East Madhya Pradesh. While the city of Hoshangabad recorded a whopping 73 mm, Sagar received 43 mm, Guna 41 mm, Indore 40 mm, Raisen 41 mm and Betul recorded 14 mm of rains.
At present, the axis of Monsoon Trough is moving across North of Madhya Pradesh. An upper air Trough is also persisting across the Central parts of the country originating from Gujarat up to coastal Odisha. Now the rain is likely to reduce over Madhya Pradesh as the Trough is likely to shift further North.
The situation shows the rainfall activity will now shift towards North and Northeast parts of the state. Reduced activity will be observed over southern districts. Also, strong winds will prevail over the area. The rains are likely to continue with moderate intensity over the Central region.
Places like Ratlam, Bhopal, Sagar, Satna, Tikamgarh, Gwalior, Guna and Khajuraho may receive good rains in the next 24 hours. The activity will, however, reduce over Betul, Khargone, Hoshangabad and Dhar.
As of now, West Madhya Pradesh is running rain surplus with a figure of +16%, whereas East Madhya Pradesh is running deficient by 19%.
