An upward trend in day temperatures will be witnessed in Delhi during the next two days. Days here will be bright and sunny with dry wind conditions prevailing during this period. Day temperatures will also rise or remain above average over central and east India. Rain would continue to occur in northeast and south India during the next two days.
Day temperatures in Delhi will be around 40 degrees during the next two days. Temperatures may crawl up to lower forties thereafter. Chances of rain in Delhi are not anticipated and the sky will not have many clouds in the coming days due to the absence of an effective Western Disturbance. Prolonged heating, averaging 13 hours a day during the next few days in Delhi will shoot the mercury further up. Morning hours will also have no respite as they will be relatively warm at around mid-twenties.
Summer conditions are expected to prevail over rest parts of north and northwest India where temperatures during the day will be above average and further spike is expected in the coming days. North & west Rajasthan, Punjab and north Haryana in the region will be kept hot by dry westerly winds.
Above 40 degree temperatures will also continue in central and east India in the next couple of days. Maximum temperatures over Bhopal and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, Allahabad and Varanasi in east Uttar Pradesh and Patna and Gaya in Bihar have already reached the lower forties. Allahabad has recorded the highest temperature in the plains and would continue to hold forte. These places are being hit hard by hot and dry winds from west.
Rain will continue over northeast India where many places would receive showers in the next couple of days. A trough (region of intensified moist winds) of low pressure persists from northeast India to north Andhra Pradesh in peninsular India. The weather system would be instrumental in bringing rain over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim in east India during the period.
Under the influence of this weather system, rain will also occur at one or two places in Gangetic West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh. Another trough extends from north Karnataka to south Tamil Nadu. This would usher in rain over one or two places in Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu during the next 48 hours.
