People who are highly obese tend to be more tired during the day and feel sleepy even after getting enough sleep at night. Abdominal fat helps in producing immune compounds, which are also known as cytokines. Cytokines result in sleepiness and also cause fatigue in humans.
People who suffer from depression, have high incidence of Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS). The daytime drowsiness in depression patients happens due to sleep disturbances, which includes waking up in the middle of the night, and taking a much longer time to sleep.
