They say Gods don’t age, but here’s one exception. Sachin Tendulkar celebrates his 42nd birthday today. As a 16 year old budding cricketer, the number of wishes coming his way was somewhat limited. But today, after completing more than two decades in the world of cricket, the number is in billions.
Sachin Tendulkar’s deification can be traced back to the 90s when Indian cricket was taking strides. As the world stepped into a new century, a new centurion attained legendary status. Records were overhauled as new heights were attained. And finally, at the brink of his retirement, the little master lifted the most coveted trophy of the game. The year 2011 saw Team India lifting the World Cup with a proud and deserving Sachin beaming on the front page of almost every newspaper.
The journey continues till date and the fans refuse to let go. Such is the charisma, such is the stature, and such is the belief that the God of Cricket can only gain followers even after his farewell to the game.
