Chennai: Contradicting the norm, this summer, Chennai has a happy air engulfing it. With IPL about to take place and more people entering the city to take part in the game gig- people have something less to worry about.

India’s National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) keep track of the air quality in India, and the latest report proves that Chennai has done better. Chennai has showcased a considerable amount of air quality as it is one of the 10 cities to have a PM 2.5 level.

Chennai will also be a host of the most anticipated Indian Premier League, this would be the first time IPL is coming back to Indian grounds after the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to the increased number of covid cases in India IPL 2020 and 2021 were held in the United Arab Emirates.

A piece of happy news to the Chennai Super King fans the team would have an opportunity to play at least 7 matches on the home ground. As the buzz and bee activity of the city is really gonna be at peak during this time. When the city is getting ready to play IPL you can also join the thrill through online platforms like IPL betting apps. There will be a total of 70 league-stage matches scheduled across 12 venues which are to take place in M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai which is the IPL home ground for Chennai Super Kings.

The IPL match will be a 52-day event that will take part in major cities like Ahmedabad, Mohali, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, and Kolkata. Kolkata according to the NCAP survey has joined with Chennai with a 2.5 PM safe limit. While other cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Lucknow recorded a higher value than permissible.

As the air is at its best you can gather your friends for a round of cricket matches, without worrying about dreading the consequences of bad air. When compared to the air quality from the time frame 2011 to 2015 this year Chennai has improved its air quality as per the joined study National Air Programme and Climate Trends and Respirer Living Sciences.

The reason Chennai bounces back to a healthy quality air is due to the control of automobile emissions and proximity to the sea. As per Shiv Nagendra, the reason why Chennai suffered due to bad quality air is construction work, traffic congestion and the dense population in cities among the other reasons.“The source of PM 2.5 is vehicular pollution. Compared to other cities, Chennai has traffic congestion, but people are not stuck for long at signals. Various measures to improve pollution levels have been taken up by the corporation.”

Experts are warning the authorities that bad-quality air can be a problem not just in winter but also during the summer season. “The reason Chennai is safer is that it gets sea breeze which plays a major role in combating air pollution,” said S N Tripathi, an IIT-Kanpur professor and panel member of NCAP. See breeze ensures particulate matter is not stuck within contaminating the air, the breeze takes it away from the city.

While you are visiting Chennai city to witness the IPL to support your favourite Chennai Super King’s be prepared to face the warm south Indian climate. Make sure you keep yourself hydrated and always apply sunscreen during regular intervals so as to avoid sun burn. Humid hot summers are also the favourite time for skin infections to develop always take precautions to avoid catching an infection.
