Dripping water, LED lights, lightning, and real-time weather simulations on your desk. If weather is your thing, then a Tempescope qualifies as a basic need.
When it comes to your smartphone, there are so many weather widgets to choose from. You can either go for widgets or third-party weather apps. You also have the option of more accurate weather apps which work with a localized approach. But what if you could on a weather widget exclusively for your study table?
‘Tempescope’ may sound like a name put together in haste, combing temperature and telescope, but it is no ordinary weather widget. This little ‘box of rain’ will bring a piece of the weather outside into your living room.
Tokyo-based Ken Kawamoto is the creator of the Tempescope project. The widget can be paired with your smartphone which helps it retrieve weather information. But the magic happens much later. After receiving weather information from your phone, the Tempescope simulates a physical representation of prevailing weather conditions.
So if it’s raining outside, it will rain inside your Tempescope. If it’s foggy, expect a foggy Tempescope when you get up. Also, if there's a lightning and thunder show outside, expect the same inside the widget sitting neatly on your table. You can even change the weather simulation as per your needs. If you wish to see some rain in your Tempescope, all you need to do is press a few buttons.
As Ken rightly puts it, Tempescope was born while addressing the need to feel tropical skies inside. Ken released the first prototype of the Tempescope about three years back. The company has received half of its target funding and the weather widget is on the verge of hitting the markets. If you lend a helping hand, you can get a Tempescope delivered to your address in any part of the world, for just Rs. 13,000. Not a bad deal for some personalized weather at home!
