October to March is by far the best time to visit peninsular India. The weather is beautiful in most areas with clear blue skies and bright sunshine. During winters, parts of south and east India may receive brief spells of rain from the northeast monsoon, but it’s still better if you want to escape the extreme chill of the north.

Hampi

This UNESCO World Heritage site was the last capital of Vijayanagar, one of the greatest Hindu kingdoms in Indian history, which dates back to the 14th century.Explore the captivating ruins intermingled with abundant boulders of this terrain stretched over 25 kilometers and comprising of more than 500 monuments. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the Vittala Temple consisting of 56 pillars that emit melodious notes when struck is a must-see monument here. It is situated along the Tungbhadra river, also known as Pampa. Hampi is also revered for being the birth place of Hanuman. This place is best explored on foot or on a two-wheeler; therefore winter is a good time to visit Hampi.

KodaiKanal

Fondly known as the princess of hills, Kodiakanal is situated 7200 feet above the sea level and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tamil Nadu. This is undoubtedly the most scenic hill station in peninsular India and has plenty to offer to every generation.

Alleppey

Allepey, also known as the Venice of the east, is popular for its wide vast lagoons, waterways and boathouses.  Allepey is also known as an ancient spice route to the west. With white sandy beaches, mirror still lagoons and palm fringed canals, Allepy is a heavenly abode during winters.
