Mumbai smog episode has been captured by NASA also. One can clearly see a plume of smoke stretching across the area, intersecting the Mumbai suburbs.
ON January 28, the fire started in Mumbai’s dumping ground. In the next 24 hours, the smoke from the fire had spread deep into the sea. NASA images of Mumbai smog show that the smoke has now reached deep into the Arabian Sea. In fact, it is now starting to affect parts of Raigad district.
The images of Mumbai smog, taken by NASA, were captured at 1:30 PM on three different days. Shot from January 27 to 29, the images of smog in the city show how clear skies were suddenly overhauled by thick smoke, once the fire started in Mumbai’s dumping ground.
Mumbaikars turned to social media and lot of images and statements were shared. CM Fadnavis tweeted that he had spoken to the Mumbai Municipal Commissioner and no stone was going to be left unturned in getting rid of Mumbai smog.
Air quality in the city has also suffered and 70 government schools have been shut down due to smog in Mumbai. Due to wind direction, northern parts of Mumbai are safe from smog in Mumbai.
