Be it on the mountains and in the depths of the sea, rugged cameras are ideal for outdoor vacations or even an adventure trip. Underwater photography is also an art and an useful method for recording data. Below is a list of some of the best weatherproof cameras considering the diversity of weather in India.

Panasonic Lumix TS5- This waterproof point-and-shoot camera is best suited for underwater photography as it is equipped with a smart auto mode function. It is ideal for use when one is unable to take action shots in manual mode under the water. It takes beautiful vivid pictures and does a comparatively good job with videos. It is well waterproof to 43 feet, freezeproof to (-10°C) and crushproof to 220 pounds. This camera cannot match a GoPro, which is more compact and easier to use but definitely more expensive.

Canon PowerShot D20- One of the better waterproof cameras, the PowerShot D20 from the house of Canon is an upgraded version of their D10. It has the same 12 megapixel resolution but a larger 5x optical zoom. This attractive piece boasts of good still and video image quality. The 3-inch LCD monitor wins over bright sunlight and helps you to showcase your photography skills.

Sony TX30- This ruggedized waterproof camera has it all from class to finesse with a stylish and slender design. It is freeze and dustproof and also waterproof to around 33 feet. However, its touch-sensitive screen does not work when operated underwater or wearing any hand gear. But that limitation is effectively taken care by the advanced automatic modes. The picture quality is good with dynamic range and detail.

Olympus Tough TG-2- It is waterproof up to 49 feet and the camera’s iris can open up to a great extent. Thereby, it allows a good amount of light to enter the 12.1 megapixel sensor.

Nikon AW120- Impressively, it can go down 59 feet underwater, dropproof to 6.6 feet and freezeproof to (-10°C). The camera also has a better screen and longer battery life. What more can you desire when this rugged camera has a built in Wi-Fi for pairing with a smartphone.
