We've all been there, a couple of months before our summer holidays we vow to drop those extra kilos but sadly, fail repeatedly. Well, it’s obvious that the best way to look great is to lose extra weight but no point getting stressed out in trying to manage both hectic work hours and gym schedules if it is really that hard for you. It’s time to be street smart and dress differently to look slimmer and compromising less on your favorite meals. Here are some suits for women to help you look slimmer this summer.
No black – Yes we know everyone has always advised you to wear black to look slimmer but it’s the heat of summers and it will be uncomfortably hot for you. Plus you will look drab, frumpy and incredibly boring! Apart from black, go for block colours, such as all but not baby pink or lilac, unless you're looking for an immature appearance.
Shorts - Most summer holidays are very hot, so ideally most people go for cool clothes such as spaghetti tops and shorts, but if in your case it will make you look bigger go for light colored clothes to keep you cool, short loose sleeves instead of strappy ones, and instead of short shorts go for knee-length shorts. Hemlines automatically draw attention to themselves by creating a visual line of contrast. For a more slimming look, lengthen or shorten sleeves, shorts and skirts below or above the widest part of the arm or leg.
Fitting – So every time you go to a mall for shopping, everything you pick up is either too tight or too lose.. Clothing that is too small will emphasize your body shape, making you look bigger; While clothing that is too big adds bulk and makes the wearer look frumpy. If fit is a challenge, have clothing altered for a better fit. It will instantly make you look slimmer. Visit your old tailor who you forgot after the shopping malls came up. Get your clothes fitted and if required even stitched.
Fabrics - Shiny fabrics, light and bright colours reflect light making the area appear bigger. When worn on your better half, they create the illusion of a more balanced upper and lower body. If you don’t know what fabric to choose, go for the evergreen cotton that is everyone’s favorite.
Waist or tummy fat - To look slimmer around the middle choose monochromatic colours or similar tones for top and bottom. Use contrast or details close to the face to draw attention away from the waist. When in doubt, cinch your waistline with a belt. Definition at the waist is always slimming. If you’re heavier around the mid-section, pair a fun blousy top with a white jeans.
Prints - A low contrast print with a darker background or a non-descriptive pattern with no background can fool the eye, camouflaging the area. When working with prints, keep the overall effect in mind for better balance. Vertical stripes are always slimming, so try it with a striped dress or top. The color blocking trend works wonders and can make you look super slim when you put dark colors on bottom and light on top.
Heels - Invest in a great pair of wedges, which will add height and make your legs appear longer. Longer shorts with nude wedge heels, gives you the illusion of having longer legs, which is so slimming.
In the end, these aren’t the rules for looking slim! Feel comfortable in your own skin. This means that you should ignore what other people may think of you and just enjoy your holiday!
