Learn to chill in humid weather

August 29, 2013 2:56 PM |

The moment you exit your pleasant air-conditioned home and you start to sweat, you know it’s humid outside. And that’s what most Delhiites and Mumbaikars are face during monsoon. But don’t worry; we have a plan for you to beat the hot and humid conditions.

Frosty Flavours– Eating ice cream is one of the best ways to beat the heat. But if you are too lazy to go out in the rains or the idea of getting drenched keeps you locked indoors, why not try something homemade. Try something unique and natural by stacking up fresh fruits at home. We suggest you try Kiwifruit, jackfruit, Jamoon, Chiku and Mulberry ice cream. Here’s a quick recipe. Peel the kiwifruit and mash them in a bowl with sugar according to your taste. Now whisk the eggs until completely blended. Pour in the cream and then transfer to an ice cream maker and freeze. In the comfort of your home, this natural delight will not just cool you but you will end up having some seasonal fruits for a change and save on a lot of calories you would have otherwise consumed from those highly fatty chocolate ice creams.

Rainy shots – The idea of cold beer could be less exciting for too many in the rains…but this does not mean you observe dry days. Easy to make monsoon mocktails will do the trick of keeping you merry in the rains. Prepare a drink of rum and break the spell of humidity. Mix light rum, pineapple juice and mixed fruit juice. Pour all together and stir in an ice-filled hurricane glass. Add dark rum at the top, mix and serve. Or if you like, sip some nice Sangria with fresh fruits and classic wine! This super fruity version is a light and refreshing repast and is perfect to serve to guests for supper on a rainy day.

Yog and rain - Monsoon brings cool refreshing showers but also brings along with it various diseases like dysentery, asthma, arthritis, nasal and skin allergies. Some of these diseases increase body heat and lower the body’s ability to digest food. Practicing Bhujangasana this monsoon is your trick to stay in the pink of health. Lie flat on the stomach with legs straight, feet together, toes facing outside and forehead on the floor. Place your hands directly under the chest; relax the whole body. Inhale, lift your head up, chest up and stretch your head back as far as possible. This will not just remove excess body heat and impurities from the body but will also increase body’s ability to breathe the heavier, damper air better.
